Sorry for the prolonged leave of absence yet again. I’ve been traveling with my boyfriend, which I will discuss later if I feel like it. I’ve decided that I shouldn’t force myself to write about things I’m not in the mood for, because it’s the quickest path to burnout.
I wanted to share my summer list with you all, a genius idea inspired by Dillon, the boyfriend. If any of you have a summer vacation or at least some time off of work, I encourage you to make a summer list: a list of things you want to do, see, and accomplish that take too much time to do during the rest of the year. My list focuses on relaxing activities that I can immerse myself in, because I find that I’m only truly happy when I’m totally engaged in the activities I do and living in the present. Basically, I’m trying to find activities to do that are meditative for me. Enter cooking into my world (and we will see how that goes) and a lot more art.
SUMMER LIST 2015:
COOKING/BAKING: Loaf of Gluten Free Bread, Oatmeal with Nut Butter (already tried it, and it tasted pretty good!), Beef Noodle Soup for Mom, Healthy(ish) Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies, Pulled BBQ Chicken, Chicken Pesto, Rice and Beans Dish, Lasagna, Quality Quinoa Salad, Carrot Cake, Veggie and Chicken Soup
If any of you have recipes for any of the above that you adore, please, PLEASE feel free to share. I’m really starting at square one here.
BOOKS/MOVIES: Usual Suspects, Pulp Fiction, Bridesmaids (I have to), Star Wars again, The Goldfinch, 1984, Oliver Sacks book, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Ulysses (if I can get through it), Pride and Prejudice
SKILLS/ART: Take photos in Encinitas, Learn to use Photoshop better, Write and record guitar songs on Garage Band, Create an artistic journal/scrapbook, Wear some great outfits, Decorate wall above bed, Work on book idea (and I have a totally new one. I have trouble sticking to an idea), Practice sketching, Go sailing, Learn some cool and easy hairstyles/braids
PLACES TO GO: Local Art Fair, Gaslamp District, Authentic Mexican Restaurant, Balboa Park, Mission Beach, Somewhere to speak Spanish, More Music Events
So there you have it, and I hope it didn’t bore you to death. Essentially, these are the things I’ve been wanting to do for months or years that I can never seem to find the time for, and I’m done waiting. Hopefully I’ll find some inspiration and passion in it, and I hope you find a new hobby/passion this summer yourself. It’s never too late to try something out.
No more going MIA, I promise. I’ll be writing at least once a week and sticking to it.
